In many cases, you as the account holder of a web server are the administrator of the web server platform. Our Technical support staff is available to help with issues as it relates to the server not operating correctly. However technical support is not responsible for server administration. The Server administrator is responsible for those tasks.
As a Server administrator, duties include things such as:
- Managing and setting up users
- Managnig and setting up customized services such as SSL, MySQL, PHP, etc.
- Managing Apache Configuration
- Managing Sendmail Configuration
- Managing FTP Configuration
- Managing security and authorities for users
This is not an exhaustive list of services a server administrator performs but is designed to give you an idea of the difference between technical support which is to "support you in the process" vs. "Doing the work for you"
Examples, if you want to setup a user on your web server, you have been given complete authority, documentation and knowledge on how to do this. Our Tech support engineers will point you to the documentation, but doing the actual work of the administrator does not fall under supporting a customer with technical needs
Our Server Administration team is available as contract for hire to act as your server administrator and make these changes and modifications as you need them. We have administration contracts whereby you can call and talk to a general administrator who will perform these tasks for you at the rate of $100/mo, which includes 2 hours of server administration time per month. Each additional 2 Hour increment is $100
We also have server administration staff available whereby you will have your own personalized phone number to call a server administrator. This 24/7 server admin personalized administration access can range from $500/mo up to $100,000/month depending upon the level of server administration you need
